Easily accessible, open all year and great value for money, it is no wonder the Costa del Sol is so popular... when was the last time you were there?
This well known stretch of the Mediterranean coastline extends for some 160 kilometres, from Nerja on the East to Manilva on the West. First discovered by summer holidaymakers in the late 70’s, the Costa del Sol is now popular all year round, offering a vast array of activities and attractions to appeal to visitors of all ages & walks of life. Indeed the Winter and shoulder months of April, May, September and October are now more popular than ever and with good reason!
Something for all – from Culture Vultures to Beach Babes!
The Costa del Sol is well known for traditional sun, sea and sand holidays, and but many visitors also enjoy investigating the many cultural and historical features of fascinating Andalucía, either by hiring a car and “going solo” or by booking organized day trips. One of the most popular places to visit is the Alhambra in Granada, a unique testament to Moorish architecture, which was proudly shortlisted as a potential Modern Wonder of the World. Malaga city also has a lot to offer, including open top bus tours, the Picasso museum, the cathedral and many historical monuments for culture vultures to feast their eyes on, not to mention the countless tapas bars and street cafes to quench your thirst or hunger! If you are lucky enough to visit at Easter time, the Malaga processions are a must see, as is a visit to the annual fair in August, a non-stop party for seven days and nights, where the streets bustle with horse and carts during the day and partygoers of all ages sing and dance traditional Sevillanas all night.
For nature lovers and activity seekers, walking, hiking, shopping, and sports facilities can all be found locally, as can many local parks and zoos.
There’s so much on offer, your holiday can be as active or relaxing as you wish. If relaxation is the name of the game, then a combination of gentle strolls along the seafront, Spanish food & wine, and a little sunshine is more than enough to satisfy most!
Easy Accessibility and Great Value
Accessibility is easy with direct flights to Malaga several times a day from Dublin, frequently from Cork, and at some times of year also from other regional airports. Flight prices tend to be much lower out of season, and if you book in plenty of time and avoid key dates, then a return flight can often be had for under €100. Combine that with a great value hotel room, not too far from the airport, and a 4 day Winter Sun break can come in for as little as €225, including daily breakfast and taxi transfers from the airport to the hotel.
The Sunset Beach Club – Benalmadena
An avid Lady Golfer from Co Donegal Dorothy Woods first started going to the Sunset Beach club with her family over 20 years ago. She decided to introduce other Lady golfers from Donegal Town Golf Club to the Sunset Beach Club. Their first Golf group holiday was such a success they have gone back year after year.
‘The golfing desk at the Sunset Beach Club, organise our Golf trips for us from start to finish. Some of Spain’s finest golf courses are easily reachable from the Sunset beach club including the La Cala’s (America, Europe and Asia), Torquebrada ,Mijas, Rio Real, Santa Clara to name just a few on the Costa del Sol. The Leisure Desk at the Sunset Beach Club, do a tremendous job at organising every aspect of our Golfing holiday, including car hire, Tee Times, Buggy Hire, Golf Club hire, if required.
We have been on holidays in lots of other resorts, but we still prefer the Sunset beach club, and the courses on the Costa. Accommodation at the Sunset Beach Club is excellent, and after a pleasant day on the golf course, we are wined and dined in the Sunset s dining room, followed by Live Music, from various artists, and dancing ‘till late. To complete the package the sun always shines in the Costa del Sol!!
I would highly recommend the Sunset Beach Club, as they cater for all your needs.”
