Over the 2010-2011 winter period, Waterways Ireland have improved a number of public jetties on Lower Lough Erne and provided access to a completely new destination for boaters.

The works at Crevinishaughy Island in the Castle Archdale area of Lower Lough Erne have not only replaced the previous jetty with a new larger version, but lower freeboard sections have been incorporated to accommodate small craft in this popular  water sports area of the Lower Lough.

At Tully Castle on the western shore of Lower Lough Erne the old jetty has been removed and replaced with a new larger jetty. A gravel beach area has also been created to facilitate canoe access to this heritage site.
The construction of a public jetty at the Lough Erne Resort will enable the boating public to access the facilities of the resort such as the two championship golf courses, hotel facilities/ spa?, restaurants and bars and offers opportunities for water orientated recreation to resort guests. It also gives boaters a new way to explore the hinterland around Castlehume and Monea.

Inish Davar and Inishmacsaint jettieson Lower Lough Erne have undergone extensive refurbishment. This has involved the replacement of defective piles, defective structural timbers and the total re-decking of both jetties.

In addition shore power bollards have been installed at the jetties at the Round O in Enniskillen. Operated by a Waterways Ireland smart card, the six shore power bollards, supply mains electricity for boat users. Smart cards are available from a range of locations including Waterways Ireland Headquarters in Enniskillen. Check out navigation on www.waterwaysireland.org for a full listing.

All of the jetties are now open.
