We began last issue by looking at some well known faces that have retained their radiance and beauty well into their sixties, seventies and eighties. These days with the advance in modern cosmetics, we can see that there is no reason why most of us cannot look good too by using the correct products.
So, as we prepare to say “Night Night”, we should make sure our skin is ready for a little night-time pampering. First of all it is important to cleanse the face, for even if you don’t wear make up, there is still going to be grime from the day on the surface of the skin. If you use a serum, and we highlighted some really good ones in the last issue, this is the time to apply it gently to the face, using upward strokes.
Then choose a good rich moisturiser, one that is designed for mature skin. Check out what is available in your local chemists – there are some really luxurious products available these days, so don’t rely on something that you have been using for the past twenty years, or something your own mother swore by!
Simple also do a lovely Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream in their Repair range which is designed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. They have a whole range including a really good Repair Day Cream and some lovely eye cream. What is lovely about this range is that is so gentle on even the most sensitive skin as they don’t use any chemicals, colours or perfumes. They also have a Regeneration Age resisting Night Cream which while it fights premature aging, it is also quite luxurious for more mature skins and the beauty is that it can be used around the eye area too as it is so gentle.
Never forget eye care – it is very important to protect the delicate skin around the eye area. We all want to anti-age our eyes and reduce bags, lines and puffiness. As we all know, it is the skin around the eyes that usually gives our age away! Treat it gently; it is like tissue paper, whereas skin on other parts of the body is like cardboard!
You should certainly invest in a good eye cream – Lancôme have a fabulous new product called Renergie Yeux Multiple Lift. It is a luxurious double formula treatment that harnesses the trends in lifting techniques to provide for the first time 6 visibly rejuvenating effects: a firmer eye contour, eyelids which look ‘lifted,’ minimised crow’s feet, fine lines and wrinkles, diminished dark circles, reduced under eye puffiness and a visibly more luminous eye.
Another new product for the treatment of mature skin around the eye area is Neovadiol Gf Eye & Lip Contour Care from Vichy. This innovative gel has shown visibly improved skin in trials with women over 50 years of age where fine creases are blurred and skin tone is brightened and 82% of women who tried the product declared smoother skin. It is very easy to use in a smooth applicator tube, and feels wonderful on your skin.
Many seniors feel reluctant to smile broadly as their teeth become darker with age, yet teeth whitening treatment can be as effective as it is for younger people. I discovered this recently when I visited The White House in Dundrum to avail of their state-of-the-art technology. The treatment takes less than an hour, is totally painless and brings your teeth back to the shade they were when you were a teenager! This is usually about 6 shades lighter, and it really does make you smile to see your own teeth looking so bright.
It is important to go to a professional dental technician, and the results can last up to two years. Check out www.thewhitehouse.ie for more details. It is really worth treating yourself to this procedure, it gives you a great reason for a big smile.
While watching our bodies age can be depressing for some, keeping healthy is key but also there is no reason why we cannot also enjoy glamour and style as the years go by. These days it is easy to do that, and it really helps your confidence and energy when you know you look well.
